It is a leading department in GKCIET, Malda started right from the beginning if the institute. The department offers academic programmes at three different levels i.e. Farm and Auto Repairing & Maintenance at certificate level and Mechanical Engineering at diploma level and degree level. The teachers of the department are actively involved in learning, teaching and development of technology. As well, the department is highly motivated towards organizing the basic and specialized engineering training for the students to meet the current and emerging needs of the society. Accordingly, the department offers quality curricula for formal and non-formal courses in mechanical engineering, and opportunities to the students to learn fundamentals and makes skilled manpower in advanced technologies with sufficient practical knowledge. As goals, the department provides successful, skilled and professional career to the students in engineering, and also encourages them towards leadership of quality entrepreneurship for betterment of the society.
